Ford EV Options

Ford has entered the EV market with three main choices of vehicles – the F-150 Lightning, the Mustang Mach-E, and the E-Transit. The truck, sports car, and utility vehicle all offer the same reliability of the standard model cousins with the added benefit of being electric.

The XLT model of the F-150 Lightning has a range of 320 miles and can charge from 15 – 80% in just 36 minutes.

The Mustang Mach-E has a range of 250 – 300 miles and has a similar charging time of 36 minutes to go from 10 – 80%. Gaining a full charge from 0% will take 1.2 hours at 440 volts, 10.5 hours at 220 volts, and 95 hours at 110 volts.

The E-Transit – depending on the roof height chosen – boasts a range of 108 to 126 miles. The Ford E-Transit will take 6 – 12 hours to gain a full charge from 0% when plugged into a 220 volt system and can gain 30 miles of range in ten minutes with 15 kW DC charging.

Types of EV Chargers for Ford Vehicles

Ford offers two main options for at-home charging stations, each with their own benefits. The Level 2 Ford Charge Station Pro provides 80 amps of power on demand and comes with a three year warranty. It will offer up to 30 miles per hour of charge for the F-150 Lightning, making it a popular F150 Lightning EV charger.

The Ford Connected Charge Station is a bit more budget friendly and provides 48 amps of on demand power. This is one of the best EV chargers for the Ford Mustang Mach-E, offering about 27 miles per hour charged. Additionally, it provides about 20 miles/hour for the F-150 Lightning and 15 miles for the E-Transit.

The Ford EV charger installation incentives are many, and you will quickly realize that having a home charging station for Ford EVs is an essential component of electric vehicle ownership. The convenience and cost efficiency of having your own home charger cannot be overstated.
